Dr. Paul Schmidt DDS - Saginaw Cosmetic Dentist
Dr. Paul Schmidt is a Saginaw native and proud! He graduated from Nouvel Catholic Central High School in 1995 before attending Michigan State University, where he completed his undergraduate studies and received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1999. Instead of pursuing his degree, Dr. Schmidt felt the call of dentistry pulling him in, and so he shifted his studies and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry in 2003.
As a strong and present member of his community, his motivation to provide health care to those around him helped Dr. Schmidt choose this path. During this time, he was mentored by his sister-in-law's father, who helped pave the way over the years until he opened his own practice in March 2009, and has been here ever since.
To Dr. Schmidt, the most satisfying part of being a dentist is "the smile you get from a patient after you take them out of pain or creating a new smile [for them]. It's very rewarding." His returning patients that have put their trust and faith into Dr. Schmidt and his team to be their dental home brings him an immense amount of pride and reaffirms that he's made the right decision.
Dr. Schmidt has advanced training in cosmetic, restorative, implant, family, and sedation dentistry. His comprehensive evaluations involve gentle and careful review of the condition of the oral cavity, including teeth, gums, bite, muscles, TMJ, esthetics, and previous dental work. Some of his favorite procedures to perform are extractions, anterior restorations, and implants, calling back to his gratification of seeing patients out of pain and restoring their smile.
He is always striving to stay up with current trends and materials to allow the best options for his patients. "The dental world is definitely changing, and to see and be in that firsthand is exciting," he shares. Being the "Mom and Pop Shop" of dentistry in his area is difficult, but he knows his patients see and understand this, and that's what keeps them returning to his practice. "I will hold on as long as possible and keep me and my patients smiling."
Dr. Schmidt and his wife, Nikki, are active members of the community, and look forward to seeing new and familiar faces every day. Together, they have 4 girls named Kensie, Kylie, Emilie and Chloe. Dr. Schmidt has happily played a part in a number of supportive communities over the years, working together to provide opportunities for others and creating incredible futures for those in his area.
